Turtles make adorable little pets and they provide ample entertainment for kids. But dirty turtle tanks can be smelly. Cleaning your turtle tank is a necessary part of owning this aquatic pet. Keeping your little friend’s tank clean will make for a happy pet and a better-smelling house. Here’s what you need to do:

- Start your turtle tank care by removing your turtles from their tank. Put them in a safe place where you can see them. Attach the siphon hose to the battery-operated vacuum. Put the other end of the hose in the sink or bathtub.
- Turn on vacuum and vacuum out the tank. Scrub any tank accessories in the sink with a toothbrush and white vinegar.
- Rinse out all parts of the filter using only water.
- Remove the hose from the tank. Fill the tank with clean, warm water.
- Put all the accessories back in the tank.
- Add some organic waste decomposer according to the directions on the bottle once the tank is filled. Put you turtles back in the tank.
