Turtles make adorable little pets and they provide ample entertainment for kids. But dirty turtle tanks can be smelly. Cleaning your turtle tank is a necessary part of owning this aquatic pet. Keeping your little friend’s tank clean will make for a happy pet and a better-smelling house. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Start your turtle tank care by removing your turtles from their tank. Put them in a safe place where you can see them. Attach the siphon hose to the battery-operated vacuum. Put the other end of the hose in the sink or bathtub.
  2. Turn on vacuum and vacuum out the tank. Scrub any tank accessories in the sink with a toothbrush and white vinegar.
  3. Rinse out all parts of the filter using only water.
  4. Remove the hose from the tank. Fill the tank with clean, warm water.
  5. Put all the accessories back in the tank.
  6. Add some organic waste decomposer according to the directions on the bottle once the tank is filled. Put you turtles back in the tank.
